Lucky you if you are off to Barbados for a holiday, but if not, perhaps the next best thing would be a flag like this, all made of the stamps of Barbados! What a colourful flag it is, originally adopted in 1966 when the island became independent. Its colours represent the blue of the ocean and the golden sands of Barbados with the broken trident in the centre, taken from the original colonial badge. I was commissioned to make this Barbados flag stamp collage as a Christmas present and will be getting some canvas prints made from the design too. I've really enjoyed putting it together, sourcing suitable stamps to conjure up the atmosphere of the island. I've including stamps with flowers, fish and birds of Barbados, coral reefs, blue skies and some of the famous landmarks and, of course, cricket, lovely cricket!

Jamaican Flag Stamp Collage
Finally finished my Jamaican stamp collage last night. Love the bright colours black, yellow (or gold) and green and pleased to get six different stamps with Bob Marley in the black triangles - three on each side. Other stamps include the Jamaican bobsled team, cricketers, Jamaican landmarks and personalities including Marcus Garvey. Native plants and butterflies also appear.

American Flag on Stamps of USA
Help! I'm disappearing under a huge heap of stamps which a friend in USA sent me some time ago. I've been gradually sorting them out as I'm using some designs in Stamp collages and it's always good to have another look to get inspiration. But what a lot of them have the flag of the USA on!
It's a beautiful flag anyway and well worth it's lovely name of the Star spangled banner. There's even a museum in Philadelphia dedicated to Betsy Ross who is said to have made the first flag, although there are various stories regarding the exact origins and designers of the flag. I wondered just how many stamps there are featuring American flags in their various designs and having googled " US flag on American stamps" got 4,240,000 potential images, and pleased to say that my own stamp collage design was among them! As it's the last day of the US presidential election campaign, here it is flying again!
